Hi, I’m Teya (she/her)

I’ve been a personal trainer since 2021, working at and from The Fox Den Gym in Wokingham, Berkshire (no membership of this gym is required to work with me as a personal training client). I work with clients in person at this gym, as well as online.

The fitness industry was not an obvious choice for me, given that I have a disability that affects some of my movement and strength and I actively avoided exercise for most of my life. I felt intimidated by gyms and regularly let down by fitness professionals that didn’t know how to support me and my goals. I felt like exercise, and particularly strength training, just wasn’t for me.

Finally finding a personal trainer and gym environment that made me feel supported and welcome, I saw the incredible ways in which regular exercise (especially strength training) changed my life and my relationship with my body.

And so I wanted to help make that happen for others that are so often let down by the fitness industry. Because if you want to exercise and move your body, then you should have access to do so, and I want to help you find the way that suits you and your goals best.

To do this, I am continually investing in my education as a fitness professional so that I can understand the science behind how our bodies move and the best way to apply that to my clients’ goals.

The truth is it doesn’t really matter about me. What matters is you, your goals and how I can support you.

About me: About

Am I right for you?

I work with people from all different backgrounds, with all sorts of goals and needs. If you often feel excluded from the world of exercise, or just a bit lost at where to start (or restart), then I would love to have a chat with you to see if I can help.

Please note, I focus on body neutrality and I won’t bring up weight loss as a goal unless this is something you would specifically like to discuss.

What can you expect working with me?

I’ll have an initial chat with you (known as a 'consultation'), to discuss the following:

  • Your goals and what you’re looking for

  • Your lifestyle and availability

  • Your experiences with exercise

  • Your exercise likes and dislikes

  • Your barriers to exercise - this includes any injury, pain, disability or chronic illness (how much detail you wish to provide is completely up to you, but the more you are happy to disclose the more I can tailor sessions to suit your needs)

  • Anything else you think I should know

Please note: the consultation is free and is an opportunity for us both to see if I'm the right personal trainer for you and what you're looking for. There is no obligation or pressure to work with me afterwards.

From there, I’ll create workouts tailored to you and your goals. During our sessions, I’ll always listen to you and encourage you to let me know if anything doesn’t feel right or if the intensity levels need to change at any point. You are the expert of your own body and I’ll always respect that.
